Who, What, When, Where, How?

Key Information

Title: Who, What, When, Where, How? Using logs and reports to monitor Student Engagement and refine Instructional Design
Presenter: Michelle Lovett
Theme: Assess
Type: Presentation
Audience: Education - Secondary

Abstract

As educators, we know that learning is more effective when it is an active rather than a passive process.  Regardless of the teaching environments, educators seek ways to identify students’ engagement with their learning experiences.  Moodle makes identification of the ‘Who, What, When, Where, How’ of student engagement simple and accessible through the built in report and log functions.

In this presentation, procedures for accessing the report function, creating individual and course participation reports, and activity logs will be shown. Scenarios will be given that demonstrate the value of reports and logs in Instructional Designevaluation, collection of evidence for Personal Engagement assessment and show tools that identify and encourage passive students.

Notes: Could be applicable for all Moodle users in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary
